Khona is 1 years old.  He is a GSD/Lab/Greyhound???, well, we really do not know what he is a mix of.  But when you read his story and look at the lovely dog in the photos, you will know why we had to take him in our program.  We were contacted by the veterinarian who treated him after a horrible attack from 2 other dogs in his own backyard.  Khona was being cared for by a lovely, young couple who were in the process of moving into a new home.   As they were moving furniture, Khona and his friend (a female dog) were in their  backyard.  When the couple returned to the home to make another trip for furniture, they heard noise in their backyard.  They looked and found the neighbors two dogs, a Pit Bull and a King Corso, standing over Khona attacking him and trying to kill him.   Somehow these two very aggressive breeds of dogs were able to get into Khona's yard.   The owners were able to turn the hose on the attacking dogs, and called Animal Control who arrived and removed the attacking dogs.   They caused serious damage to Khona's limbs and head, but did not have time to kill him.  Khona was rushed to the ER vet in Concord.  He had over 100 wounds and at least 20 drains had to be placed.   Damage was contained to all four legs and his head.  The owners paid for as much as they could, Dr. Groff, his vet donated some care, and Golden State GSR donated the final part of his care.   The original couple could not keep him, as the rental would not allow a dog.   Everyone felt so much sorrow for this sweet dog, Khona that many people came together to help him.    Camp Four Paws in Clayton has generously donated care for him while he is waiting to find a forever home.   He is now playing with other dogs and is gaining weight with the expert care of Camp Four Paws.  He is very submissive, sweet, gentle, and is shy with new people.  He warms up quickly to new "friends" and is gaining more confidence.  His wounds are all healed and he is ready to find a home.  He will need a quiet, adult home with gentle owners.  He would be Ok with and easy, sweet dog.  Khona is also OK with cats and small dogs.  He is housebroken.  Khona just needs a place to live safely with someone who will build his confidence and love him.  His previous owner sent one of his puppy pictures we included below.
