Zuma

Golden State German Shepherd Rescue was notified by the Stockton shelter of this beautiful girl, the Stockton shelter named Zuma. Found as a stray, the Stockton shelter staff was quite smitten with Zuma and could not stop gushing about her. This beautiful lady with the soulful brown eyes can be quite coy when first introduced but she is soft and gentle. She has lovely manners and will sit by your side for love and affection. When she knows you better...watch out!  Zuma will roll over for belly rubs and will show you her silly, goofy, and playful side.  This girl may have come from a loving home she seems to have had some training.  She knows some of her commands and likes to shake paws for treats!  Zuma has been great with other dogs and  IS cat safe.  She is also very comfortable around people of all ages.. Gorgeous, gentle, mellow, and friendly the shelter was surprised his owners did not come looking for him.  The vet estimated Teddy to be approx. 18 months old.  Since being in his foster home, Teddy has learned a lot of new things and has a new playmate to keep him company  In just a couple of weeks, he learned that a crate was a good thing, especially because his meals were served in there and now comfortably sleeps through the night without a peep.  Teddy also appears to be housebroken and has already learned "sit".   Teddy loves his foster sister, Heidi, and plays with her a lot. Their favorite games are tug-of-war, wrestling, and chase - with Teddy chasing Heidi. Teddy is good with the two 10lb chihuahua mixes - he ignores them & they ignore him. However, like all GSDs, Teddy "needs a job".  He's already fancied himself a gardner, pulling out his foster's rake and wheelbarrow.  His foster mom feels that Teddy would do well in almost any type of home (or family) just so long as they are committed to keeping Teddy occupied and entertained with daily exercise and training....or he will find his own way to entertain himself.  She also feels Teddy would be OK by himself but would really enjoy the company of a playful playmate.     More

Watch videos of Greta in action on youtube!Video 1 Video 2 Video 3 Have you ever dreamed of a White Christmas?  Have you ever dreamed of a White German Shepherd????  If so, Greta would be your dream come true <3 Greta is an approx two-year-old German Shepherd mix that was found as stray with another old dog.  Animal Control Officers said she was protecting the old dog who was sick. Greta was in the shelter for over two months until she caught the eye of Golden State German Shepherd Rescue.  We went in to pick up another pup and decided to evaluate this beautiful girl and she did great on her evaluation.  Greta prefers a slow introduction with most dogs but as soon as she realizes they are friendly, she can't wait to start playing w/them!  She even temp tested well with kitties so we think with proper introduction and supervision, she will be able to co-habitate with felines.   Greta LOVES going for rides and is a great traveler.  Every time her foster mom opens the car door, Greta is ready to go!  And she loves to go on long walks. During her stay at the shelter, they would take her out on her doggy day and she would walk over two miles!!!      Greta is extremely comfortable with people of all ages. She is particulary fond of young kids as she watched her foster mom's young son and nephew very attentively while they were on the trampoline. Greta never left their side nor took her eye off them.   We don't know why Greta wasn't snatched up while she was in the shelter.  She is a lovely girl with extraordinary charm and personality.   More

Luna

Female 7.9 years

Luna was found "as a stray" on August 15, with a note in her collar "Luna, six years old, housebroken" and although she was microchipped, when the Manteca shelter called the number, it went back to her original owner who said they had given her away years ago but didn't know where that person was. Sadly, those people didn't want her back and the shelter believes her current owner came back to dump Luna in Manteca. We were notified about Luna and thankfully we had a new foster willing to foster her. Luna passed her evaluation with flying colors and we pulled her into rescue. Luna is now enjoying her new, quiet life in Galt and her foster dad, Dave, reports "she's been investigating all the new sounds in the backyard and is on 24/7 watch for squirrels".  She also enjoys chasing a tennis ball and will bring it back but she prefers a short game. After 5-6 throws, she will lay down for a much deserve break (but keeps an eye out for any pesky squirrels).   More
