Ben needs a foster home. Please contact us if you can help.
Ben is about 4 years old and is a special dog who has had a hard life. Ben came from a shelter as a stray thin, dirty, very weak and not feeling well. We took him to Lake Veterinary Hospital in Oakland (they specialize in GSDs) to take a look at him. Ben was great to handle, his hip xrays are good, and his back and neck xrays were OK as well. The vet feels that he has a neck injury (maybe he was choked???) and he has two abcessed teeth (he was unable to eat at the shelter). He needs a few weeks of antibiotics and some rest before we can complete his medical care. He is doing well, is gaining weight, and his coat is shining. Ben is calm and gentle and LOVES people. Ben deserves to find a good home, as he is so sweet and so loving. We are providing all of his medical care, he just needs some time. He is small for a male, about 65 pounds, he has good house manners, and he will win your heart. He is not ready to adopt yet, but if you can foster him, please let us know. While he is healing, he would be best as an only dog, no cats.
