If there was ever a German Shepherd who needed rescuing, it would be Joe Rudy.  Given the state he was in while incarcerated in a Northern California high kill shelter, nobody would have adopted this boy.  He was all bones, had raggedy fur from a skin infection, and was spooky to boot.  Nobody ever taught him anything, including how to walk on a leash, how to live in a house, or how to play with toys.  But take a look at his cute mug shot, like a shelter volunteer did.  She saw this diamond in the rough and wanted him to have a chance.  Joe Rudy's only chance with for a rescue to step in.  So she made some desperate phone calls, contacted Golden State German Shepherd Rescue, and one of our fosters bravely volunteered to bring Joe Rudy in for a month or so of TLC and training.  Now this 8 month old puppy is with a pack of German Shepherds and their owners, and is learning how to be a family dog.  His fosterers say "Joe Rudy is going to be a champ.  We've even seen two ears fully up on several occasions."  Look for him to show up at our future adoption days, a new dog, ready for a forever home, with a lifetime of love to give.
