See me at the next Adoption Day!

Gentry is a handsome and very smart boy.  He is approximately 1 1/2 years old and still has lots of good puppy energy, yet settles in well. His foster mom said he walks nicely on a leash, is learning to sit, down, stay, touch, look at me and leave it.  He will need work on recall/come and continued training.  He is learning to go into a crate.  He is a confident boy.  He likes riding in the car, playing fetch and swimming.  He will need good solid toys because he is an expert chewer.

Gentry does need to learn how to play properly.  He can be a bit mouthy (which is typical of young pups who haven't learned the proper social skill).  With consistent training, this behavior can be stopped.  He is getting work done for this trait.  We don't think that Gentry's previous owners did much training with him.  He does jump up on people, but again with training, this can be corrected.

We feel that Gentry would do best in a home without children (or at least in a home with older children who can respect his boundaries).  Gentry would benefit from a home with male leadership that can keep him extremely active - not just neighborhood walks, but he needs hiking or runs to burn off his energy.  He does seem to gravitate towards men more than women, but he's currently being fostered by a female, and should be with an adopter who is giving him lots of love along with structured training.  He also LOVES playing with other dogs, so he would be good as a second dog or have access to group dog walks/play dates.  He's very vocal when he sees other dogs, and we see this as a sign of wanting to play, not aggression.
